There are not many companies that are more than 200 years old that develop and market software but Stibo, which is a Danish company founded in 1794, is one of them. Nor is Stibo by any means a small company, with 800 staff and annual turnover of $180m.

The federal government tabled legislation on Thursday that it claims will see individuals fined a maximum of $500 if they are caught downloading copyrighted files. However, some users could potentially face millions in fines.
