With Fidel Castro now out of office, East Hampton Village Trustee Edwin L. Sherrill Jr. has got to be the longest serving government official “in the western hemisphere,” Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. told Mr. Sherrill on Friday as he presented the retiring village trustee with a citation from the state Assembly honoring him for his service and achievements.
