The discovery of lead in the coloring of artificial playing surfaces has resulted in a request by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS) for a federal public safety assessment of synthetic turf, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has agreed to take up the issue.
