Three Americans and two Japanese scientists hailed for developing materials to fight diseases and protect the environment were named winners Wednesday of the Prince of Asturias prize.

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Thousands of dollars in grants, including a special disaster-relief grant in the wake of recent tornado damage, were presented Tuesday by the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri.

The following seniors from the local area were among the 106 students from Newark Academy in Livingston who received a diploma at the Commencement Exercises on June 8.

Eighth grade graduation was held in the Chandlers Middle School gymnasium on Friday, May 23rd for 43 graduates of the class of 2008. After the processional, played by Mrs. Paula Scarbrough, an invocation was given by Bro. David Youngblood.
