It's time to slam the brakes on plans to bury the Commonwealth Games velodrome under tonnes of dirt to create a $4.8-million playing field and stadium for the West Shore. The rush to get rid of the velodrome looks much like one of those wild stage finishes in the Tour de France, with riders sprinting to the line. It's worth remembering that those often end in spectacular crashes.
